![]() All of the mod's gameplay alterations were done via a scripting language, instead of Portal 2 's code directly. Work on Portal Reloaded began in 2014 by German developer Jannis Brinkmann as a side project, without the intention of turning it into a full-scale mod. Once reaching the surface, they encounter a pack of headcrab zombies. Otherwise, the player escapes via an elevator, and their portal gun is deactivated. If the player does the former, the test subject successfully returns to stasis, with the AI commenting that they will now "change the course of history", possibly causing the events of Portal to never happen. The player can either obey this order, or escape through a time portal to the future. ![]() They reveal the actual purpose of the testing track – to train the player character to kill the rogue subject, preventing the destruction of Aperture's facility.Īt the end of the game, the main character is sent back to a stasis chamber. ![]() Near the end, the overseer admits the Enrichment Center was in fact destroyed under mysterious circumstances involving a " rogue test subject". As the game progresses, it is revealed that the main character was the only one who survived initial time travel, and that Aperture cannot get it to work in any way other than the twenty-year interval. Navigating various test chambers using the portal gun, they learn how to use time portals to navigate between a version of Aperture's laboratories in the past and a dilapidated and broken version twenty years in the future, which the facility's artificial intelligence overseer states has been damaged as a visual aid. The player assumes the role of test subject 4509 in the Aperture Science Enrichment Center, who is awoken from stasis to take part in a "Time Travel Testing Course". Portal Reloaded is intended to take place in the same universe as the official Portal games according to the developer, the narrative is designed to not interfere with that of the original series. See also: Portal (series) § Setting and characters It is intended for "veteran players", being more challenging than the official games. The developer has stated that the mod is intended as a smaller-scale complement to the original game, in contrast to other modifications such as Portal Stories: Mel. Unlike Portal 2, which it is based on, the game's initial release did not feature a co-op mode. Therefore, careful usage of puzzle elements allows the player to have a duplicate of any puzzle element that can be brought through the time portal. A future variant of an object brought into the past does not create another future variant of itself. While past objects cannot be taken through the time portal into the future (causing a paradox), future variants of an object can be brought into the past. However, objects in the future can be moved independently of their past equivalents. If an object – such as a cube or a conventional portal – is manipulated in the past, it moves in the future chamber as well, causing its previous copy to fizzle. The game also involves solving puzzles with other testing elements introduced in the official games, such as buttons, cubes, lasers, and light bridges. Unique to the mod is a third "time portal", allowing the player to traverse between the same point in two alternate versions of the test chamber, located respectively in the past and the future. Players are equipped with a "portal gun", allowing them to create holes that connect disparate areas in three-dimensional space. In this example, the player can either use the blue portal to exit from the orange portal, or enter the green "time portal" to access the future chamber, where the other portals are positioned differently.Īs with the official Portal games, Portal Reloaded takes place in the Aperture Science facility, where the player character solves a variety of puzzles in test chambers.

Please note that not all models can be split. If you split such compound objects, you can remove or rearrange some of these components.Īn additional option is to split all or only identical objects. For example, some models are composed of several objects (a computer, a lamp and books on the table). Models can be split only if they consist of several components. In this case, an imported object will be added as a group that includes all of the original parts. The “Split Object Instances” option can split a compound object into separate objects. And re-import only the objects you need to view from the inside with this option switched on. Our advice is to import all objects with the “Make all surfaces double-sided” option off. So, to simplify 3D models of these objects and decrease their size, faces of invisible object parts are not needed. Adding faces leads to increasing the 3D object size, which results in increasing the document size. Most of the objects can be viewed only from the outside, like a sofa or any other furniture item. The lack of these faces will make some parts of an object invisible. The app applies color and texture to these faces to make them visible.īut, if you need to look at the box from the inside as well, each of its sides should have two faces, inner and outer, to make them visible. Live Home 3D creates faces for each side. When you import a 3D model of a box and look at it from the outside, you will see one side of each surface. Make All Surfaces Double-Sided to Avoid Invisible Surfaces When applying the materials to one cube side, all sides will get the new material. If the cube is imported again with this option activated, it will have the same look, though the 3D model will differ. It is possible to change the material of any cube side. If the sides of the cube have the same material, and this option is off, all the sides have the original material. ![]() ![]() ![]() If the cube has the same material on all sides: If you switch this option on and off, the result will be the same. If the cube has different materials on each side, it has no similar materials. Below is a short explanation of how this works with the two cubes. This optimization limits application of different materials to separate model parts. Remove excessive details from the model to simplify it and increase the rendering speed. The unstressed is the second syllable(unbold). The stressed part of the word is the first syllable(bold). Stressed syllables are the portion of the word that has more emphasis on it. Stressed and unstressed syllables are pretty self-explanatory and they can vary based on your accent or language spoken. Syllables are the vowel sounds that are made when you say words. One of the most overlooked things in beginners to rap is missing out on how to flow in rap technically. Here is a series of videos I made in regards to flow to help get the fundamentals out of the way. This rhythm comes from stressed syllables and unstressed syllables and how they work in coordination with each other. Generally words already have a natural rhythm to them. What Is Flow In rap?įlow is how the rhythm of your words fit on top of the beat. Then when the hook comes in the melody will generally change again. The verse will kick in and you should be able to count out 1-2-3-4 sixteen times. That’s a good way to break down a rap beat.įor the most part the intro doesn’t usually have a pronounced beat in it. The way that you can figure out what section goes where is to count it out and listen for melody changes in the instrumental. This will vary and there are ways to figure out where you’re at. Rap songs generally follow a similar structure with a couple differences. Then it’s up to you to build creative differences on top of that. This structure is the foundation of the house. Though I would 95% of rap can be broken down like this. As songmakers will deviate when they are getting creative. This is obviously not always true for rap songs. The boom is the kick and the bap is the snare. That’s why you hear the term “Boom Bap” in hip hop. ![]() Snare drum is harder and sharper sounding and has more of a clap sound. Kick drum is softer and has more of a thud sound. There are two different types of beats mainly used to identify the structure of the rap song. To figure out how to count beats in a bar you need to identify the two main types of drums used on those beats (1-2-3-4). This explains how drums, beats and bars work in many hip hop tracks. I drew an incredibly complex representation here haha. You will never have an odd number of bars. ![]() Almost all rap songs are setup in this manner for structure. Those 4 beats can go fast or slow depending on the tempo set. What Is A Bar?Ī bar in rap is also a measure of time. Here is a video to help describe it visually. Secure f money management strategy offers traders the ability to maximize the return subject to the level of risk they are willing to assume. The goal is to use optimal f to manage the trading capital so that the terminal wealth relative is maximized. The longer optimal f is used, the more final equity will result from its application.įIGURE 1: OPTIMAL F. Trade history should be profitable otherwise, neither optimal f nor any other strategy will turn a losing strategy into a winning one. To find the value of optimal f, the calculations are applied to a set of historical trades. This amount is f% of the existing equity at the time the trade is initiated. As we can see from the description of optimal f and Figure 1, optimal f maximizes the final equity by investing the right amount in every trade. HPRi(f)=1+(f((-Return on the trade i)/(Return on the worst losing trade))įigure 1 illustrates the optimization problem solved by optimal f. Vince introduces optimal f, and to find the value of optimal f, we need to maximize what Vince calls terminal wealth relative (TWR). This formula is applicable when there are only two outcomes. The concept of percent or fractional strategy itself comes from the Kelly formula, which estimates the percentage of your capital to trade when the amounts won and lost are not equal:ī = Ratio of the size won on a winning bet to the size lost on a losing betĪ simple example would be if you had three bets - two winners and one loser (1, 1, zero) - and you made or lost equal amounts: ![]() Because traders are able to employ a variety of money management strategies, it can be useful to know what would have been the optimal amount to invest in each case. This strategy determines which percent of equity invested in a trade would have yielded the highest return based on a sequence of past trades. Optimal f is a money management strategy that can be used to improve and maximize system performance by finding the best percent of capital to invest in each trade. Secure f differs from optimal f because it takes historical drawdowns into account and uses information about the prices of the underlying security. It is a modification of the optimal f strategy that was introduced by Ralph Vince in his Portfolio Management Formulas. Secure f can be a conservative strategy or an aggressive one, depending on the level of acceptable maximum drawdown selected by the trader in question. A new money management strategy called secure f is one of the outcomes of that work, and here, we will demonstrate how to find a new fractional value of capital to invest in every trade to maximize returns subject to a constraint on drawdown. Over the past four years, we have developed and applied evaluation software to trading systems that use money management techniques and have studied the impact of these techniques on trading systems. Here's how to find a new fractional value of capital to invest in every trade to maximize returns subject to a constraint on drawdown, using a variation of the optimal f money management strategy. The only information I need to change for each activation is the “Location” field, where I pick a station location that I’ve configured in the TQSL application. The second tab we want to make modifications on is “LoTW/eQSL” ( LoTW stands for “Logbook of the World”): Here, the associated ADIF field is SIG_INFO. For the second party in a Park to Park contact, I use the second user defined field, and name it “P2P”. The associated ADIF information field is MY_SIG_INFO, and I check the “Remember” setting so that I only have to enter it once. For keeping track of the park reference I operated from, I use the first user defined field and call it “My Park”. I use the six character version of the grid square here. You can learn more about the nitty gritty of what happens in the database and how to fix that by watching Vance’s (N3VEM) YouTube video: If one of you moves to a different park, and you have another QSO on the same band, the system will flag that as a duplicate and not give you credit for another Park to Park contact. This works as long as you’ve only had one contact with the other party during your activation. The POTA database tries to identify Park to Park contacts automatically by matching two QSOs between two operators in different parks within a certain timeframe. In general, submitting a plain ADIF file is sufficient, but may not give you all the Park to Park credits you’ve earned. In RUMlogNG, this is done using the Logbook>New menu item, or ⌘N. A line in my log may look like this:Īfter the activation, when I am at my computer I start my logging application RUMlogNG (this is only available for macOS systems), and I create a new log book. For a Park to Park contact, I also log the park reference number. While I am making contacts, all I write down is the abbreviated time – I only write down the minutes – the call sign, the outgoing and received signal report and the state. In addition to that, I log my operating frequency, and when I change frequencies, I create a new line with the new frequency. All that information gets written at the top of my activation log. The apps just mentioned work on my iPhone, there are similar apps available for Android phones. The first thing I do when arriving at my operating location is to get a few pieces of information from my phone: The grid square I am in (using the HamSquare app), the county I am in (using the Where Am I app) and the correct UTC date and time (using the Pilot Time app). So, don’t clean out your car too often or you will not have a backup for your logbook □ Things like gas receipts, parking passes or old shopping lists, even paper napkins from fast food restaurants all work for this purpose. Even when my log book fails (because I left it at home), there are usually enough scraps of paper in the car that I can log an activation. This is to eliminate one more device that can fail during an activation. It’s not the only way to do this, and it may not be the best way, but it’s what I’ve developed over about 18 months, with more than 60 activations. The following process is what works for me. I am a POTA activator, which means that in addition to just logging for my own benefit, I also have to submit an ADIF file to my POTA regional coordinator. |
